Among other barriers to growth, a majority of private-company CEOs are worried about a dearth of qualified employees, a recent survey found.Out of more than 100 CEOs polled, 64 percent said they were somewhat or extremely concerned about the availability of skilled workers, while over half said they have taken steps to boost recruiting and job retention efforts, according to PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Corra believes this comes under the category, good help is hard to find. Is it ever. Ask anyone. And then there is the chicken and the egg question. There is always a chicken and the egg question. In this case is it that many companies are simply making so many demands on their labor, cutting corners, forcing unpaid overtime, downsizing, etc. that it has forced a decline in the work ethic? Or is it that the drop in the work ethic has caused a lack of productivity and companies have been forced to trim, etc?
This is not a question to be easily answered. Not here, and not now. Because, no matter what the answer, at the end of the day we are still left with the dismal reality that good help is hard to find. Even with the poor showing in the job market for July, good help, really competent employees, are still going to be hard to find.
