Recruiters Lament Fewer Executive Hires

With the economy still in the doldrums and with the prognosis growing dimmer that there will be a mid-year turnaround, fewer businesses are hiring new executives.   This bit of news does not bode well for recruiters who make their livings placing executives.  Needless to say the reemployment screening services are not particularly happy, either about the continuing downward spiral.   And last in the list are the executives who have been laid off and are out there looking for a job.

Rather than see a turnaround in the middle of 2009, recruiters are saying they wills see improvement closer to the end of the year.  According to a recent article in incentive.mag confidence has slipped from “very confident” to “somewhat confident,” declining in several stages.    The good news, however, is there are industry sectors holding up.   Healthcare, consumer staples, and medical devises still offer opportunities.
