Washington D.C. National Archives Center is Closed Due to Earthquake Damage

Fopr those conducting county criminal records searches as part of their background checks for employment screening please take note that earthquake damage in the Washington D.C.  has caused the National Archives Record Center will be closed until further notice.

Washington, DC-area courts have announced that due to last week’s earthquake, the National Archives will be closed until further notice. The National Archives Website reports that the Washington National Records Center in Suitland, MD will be closed on August 30 and 31. Court clerks are accepting archive requests but they are not providing estimates of when the records will be returned.
