Are You Checking for Sexual Offenders?

Corra knows that nothing can be more off putting for any workplace than to have someone working there who is onthe sexual offenders registry. Now we can argue both side of this issue until the cows come home, but at the end of the day, no matter what else is said mot people are creeped out by sexual deviants. This is especially the case when the offender has violated children.

That is why it is so important to include the sexual offenders’ registry search as part of your preemployment screening program. Hiring a sexual offender may do good for a certain part of your charitable spirit, but it most likely will initiate a loss of morale in your workforce. You will find disgruntled employees who will either leave or threaten to leave. Those with children are the most likely to voice their discontent.

Corra includes the sexual offenders’ registry with its nationwide criminal background search. Upon request, it will also provide the OFAC or Global Terror report for a couple of dollars more. It is cost effective and may avoid many problems that can result in litigation or employee turnover.

So check them out before you hire.

Sex Offenders Can Put You and Your Business at Risk

Corra thinks this is serious stuff. In the past month, Corra researchers discovered four serious sex offenders who were applying for jobs with our clients. This may not seem like much but quite frankly this is extraordinary. This number marks a significant increase in sex offenders we uncovered in this relatively short period of time.

Corra gets the bad news first, and believe her when she tells you these are among the last people you would want in your work force. Some committed very violent sexual crimes including rape and sexual battery, and some were merely content to molest children and underage teens. It’s no joke. Our clients were shocked, even more so when two of the far on first impression seemed like “charming individuals.” “Really nice guys.”

Despite all that has been said about first impressions, please realize that these characters are very good at deception. They will often put on any ruse just to avoid detection. Call it a sickness, or call it evil–no matter. These characters are a danger to your work staff and possibly a danger to the children of your employees.

Single mothers who are dating also better take heed. Sexual offenders can ruin your lives and the lives of your children in so many ways, Corra doesn’t want to list them. As for a business, Corra can tell you it can bring embarrassment, serious litigation and possibly ruin to your company.

So when you are hiring candidates, don’t take things on instinct and first impressions. Run background checks. Our nationwide criminal background check includes the sexual offenders registry in all fifty states. Run the social security trace to make sure they haven’t switched to a fictitious numbers.

Look, most people are decent and wish no harm to anyone. These freaks don’t come around all that often. But when they do, the consequences are major.

Check them out before you hire.

Social Networks, The Sex Pervert’s Happy Hunting Ground

We saw this article on the LA Times.
MySpace is asked to reveal names of sex offendersFrom the Associated Press

RALEIGH, N.C. — Top law enforcement officers from eight states asked MySpace.com on Monday to turn over the names of registered sex offenders using the social networking website.

In a letter, the attorneys general asked MySpace how many registered sex offenders were using the site and where they lived. North Carolina Atty. Gen. Roy Cooper signed the letter, along with attorneys general from Connecticut, Georgia, Idaho, Mississippi, New Hampshire, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Cooper’s office said media outlets in 2006 “reported almost 100 criminal incidents across the country involving adults who used MySpace to prey or attempt to prey on children.”

In December, MySpace announced it was partnering with Sentinel Tech Holding Corp. to build a database on sex offenders in the United States. Software to identify and remove sex offenders from the site was launched in early May, MySpace said Monday in a statement.

Corra has definitely beliefs about adults who prey on children. While they are pathetic creatures who often emanate from abusive families themselves, the fact remains, according to most research, they are almost always repeat offenders. The news is filled with stories of men, usually men, anyway, who have been arrested for previous offenses only to be released so that they do it all over again.

We are inundated with headlines detailing perverts and the heinous crimes they commit against children. We are always shocked and appalled, but quite often these same perverts are back on our streets or on the Internet. No one should be shocked, really, that they are on the social networks. Where better to hunt for young and impressionable people, kids really, who can be intrigued by the right presentation.

Let’s face it, these guys know their territory and what it takes to lure a young person. Perverts are good at what they do. It makes sense since it is the contemplation of these acts and their actuality they obsess over through the course of their lives.

Apologists argue that they can’t help themselves. That they should be understood. Corra agrees we should understand them. We should know them well enough to protect our children against their overtures. This is but one of the reasons that Corra’s Nationwide Criminal Background Report includes the sames of anyone on the sexual offenders’ registries in all fifty states. Having run enough background checks, we have caught our share.

Maybe you can’t protect your kids from predators on the Internet. But you can certainly work to protect them against nannies, caregivers and others who come in contact with your children on a regular basis. Don’t be foolish. Check them out before you let them near your kids.

Use the Phone for Dating–It’s So Old It’s New

we saw this article on Online Dating Insider

Ccube is a new over-the-phone social network launching today. The service lets you connect with friends and business prospects on sites like MySpace and eBay with the click of a button. Members can search for and talk to anyone for free. The service lets users link a Ccube username to their favorite connectivity device, including mobile and landline phones or VoIP services, keeping personal phone numbers private.

This is good for dating and social networking, especially on a site like Classmates and Reunion.com. A great way to reconnect with the guy who beat you up for lunch money or the girl you always wanted to ask out in high school.

I like the idea of voice profiles the most. The world is full of people with enough free time to yap away with strangers about all sorts of things. I worked with some people on a business plan the did just this, based on Skype, last year. It’s a compelling idea and the technology is all there to make it happen. It needs a solid scheduling feature to make it turely useful, who wants to get random calls all hours of the day?

The logo has a woman talking on the phone in her car while it looks like the door is open! And she’s not wearing a seatbelt, a la Jon Corzine. Thumbs down from the safety police.

Corra still conducts the occasional background search for dating purposes. With that in mind, and with Corra being the romantic she is, we found this article just too amusing to let it pass. Imagine, using the telephone to talk to a romantic prospect? Corra says this is so old, it’s new.

And that in itself may sound odd, if not frightening. the fact that we have, in our desperation to find a mate, relied upon everything but our own human voice may say more about the modern human experience than we care to realize. Perhaps, we have tried everything else and now we are back to the phone. Corra recalls those earlier youthful and awkward moments known as the dating process. Made the heart thump a little harder with romantic visions and a hint of expectation.

So now we are back talking on the phone. Quite a concept. Corra thinks it is wise to check out your potential paramour, and ounce of prevention may help you avoid ten pounds of cure. So when you meet someone, just to be sure, check them out before you date them.
