Corra believes it’s great that everyone can be working from anywhere in this brave new world of ours. Virtual offices can be cost effective and can institute the kind of freedom and flexibility that certain workers find appealing.

With all the electronics and technology it is relatively easy for any employee to establish a virtual office and be equally or more effective that he would in the traditional office environment. That is if that employee is capable of working on his own and without significant supervision.

But let’s face it, not everyone is capable of working virtually, either without supervision or from without the traditional corporate environment. You need special people with less cog in the mechanism mentality and more entrepreneurial spirit

Conducting a preemployment screening program will help you sort out those capable of working in the virtual world and those who are not. A criminal search is a must anymore, but you should consider running a credit report, a motor vehicle driving records report and an education verification. This sequence of reports will help demonstrate how your candidate’s fiscal responsibility as well as his personal habits.

It is a brave new world, but it can get awfully dicey out there as well. Check them out before you hire.
